Cha has long been on the path of an artistic pilgrimage to seek the foundation of painting. In her tempestuous journey toward the primordial stage of visual images with the infinite recurrence of the artist’s refinement of the world, Cha has attempted to achieve her artistic goals by locating the alpha and omega of the visual world in her canvases. She elaborated “planes” and focused on “points.” Of course, it is her “lines” that became the medium of her artistic pilgrimage throughout her works. The lines that display tranquil movements direct the audience’s attention to the very moment at which the artist’s hand made contact with the surface. Her breath paused, and the change of space and time stopped. Her pictures are filled with still moments of creation in which the essence of all becomings are disclosed to the light. The recurring lines imply the artist’s yearning for the fundamental “point” in which all cosmic energy is condensed. All her works reveal her will to probe into the groundwork of both painting and becoming in terms of her power as creator.
